Anna Bergmann

Samo (Anna Bergmann) was born in Moscow, Russia on August 29th in 1980. She dreamed about becoming a clown - or maybe a janitor. Samo's favorite childhood activities were drawing on the wall paper, reciting poems and destroying the family's chinaware.

Samo started studying architecture in Moscow in 1999. She gave in after two years and switched to animation. From 2002-2006 she was studying art-direction of animated films at VGIK (Russian State University of Cinematography, Moscow).

She moved to Berlin/Germany in 2006. Samo studied animation at HFF 'Konrad Wolf' (University for Film and Television) in Potsdam/Germany (Diploma in 2011).

Samo lives and works in Berlin/Germany. Many of her films have been screened at national and international Festivals (such as Berlin Film Festival 'Berlinale', Annecy International Animation Film Festival, International Animation Festival Hiroshima, International Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart, and many more).
